About Katie McNeil

Bio

My vision is to offer a space for people to practice yoga and learn together as a community. I love to help empower students to; feel comfortable being themselves in class, have the opportunity to find a sense of agency within their yoga practice, and find their own set of tools they can take with them throughout their life.

I teach a range of yoga styles tailored to clients, including Gentle Flow Yoga, Restorative, Yin, Hatha, Vinyasa and Power Flow yoga at a range of levels.

Katie McNeil Yoga Oxford

My yoga journey started back in 2015 when I found taster sessions at a peace festival and felt a sense of calm and groundedness. Since then, my practice brings me back to that feeling. I started to find myself, a strength within me, and a willingness to open a conversation with my body and my mind. Yoga became a tool that I used to help me find calm and balance within, and has helped me through periods of poor mental health.

The space on my mat that yoga classes offered me at that time and still now is a place to try to reconnect my mind and my body, to listen, receive gratitude from myself, accept, and learn.

I believe that yoga is for everybody, and I try to make my classes as accessible as I can. I encourage students to come as they are to class and hope to offer a nurturing place where they can just be.

Outside of teaching, I work as Administrative Assistant for Nourish Yoga Training and Studio Manager for Every Body Studio. This includes general administrative support, inbox management, support with class schedules, and writing and uploading bi-weekly class descriptions for the Community Library. I have 10+ years of experience in administration within the Charity sector and Higher Education working with research groups tackling how to make the world a better and safer place. I pride myself on being well-organised and effective at my work. I volunteer at OSARCC, a charity close to my heart and have recently become an active member of the Yoga Teachers Union. I have first aid and mental health first aid training and have, prior to teaching, completed an introduction course to psychodynamic counselling.
