Mini Yoga Retreat – at the Yurt

Mini Yoga Retreat

Saturday 23rd November

2:00-6:00 pm

The Yurt, Oxford City Farm

I am delighted to invite you to out first mini-retreat at the Yurt in Oxford City Farm. As we move from autumn to winter, I invite you to take a moment to pause and reflect. Join us for a day of nourishing your mind, connecting to yourself and the nature around you and inviting rest.

My intention for the afternoon is to give you space to slow down and take rest together so that you can leave feeling renewed and with a few new rituals to take you through the winter months.

The retreat will open with a guided meditation and intention setting for the afternoon, helping you to cultivate a container for your practice. We will flow through a vinyasa-style yoga flow, connecting to mind, body and breath throughout. There will be space for gentle movement, familiar shapes and challenges in more dynamic postures if you want it. The practice will be invitational and have space for more rest or movement, depending on your intention for the day.

We will take a breath for delicious herbal teas and snacks. Then (depending on the weather), take a meditation walk around Oxford City Farm’s growing gardens before returning to our mats for Pranayama, Restorative Yoga, and Nidra Yoga.

Our Pranayama practice (breathwork) will be designed to help you downregulate the nervous system and help soothe and relax the body.

Restorative yoga is a practice of longer-held, supported postures using props to encourage a state of deep rest and relaxation in body, mind and heart. in restorative yoga, the intention to seek softness (rather than stress) in the physical tissues of the body, and a sense of ease and rest in the nervous system.

Yoga Nidra translates as yoga sleep. It is a state of restful awareness that guides you while resting comfortably. Within that state, guided visualisations help support the body to rest.

To close the tea we have a few journaling prompts to encourage you to reflect on the day and how you might plan moments of self-care in the coming winter months.
